Ruby wins women's snowboard giant slalom

Odds-on favorite Karine Ruby of France wins the gold medal in the women's snowboard giant slalom event Feb. 10 at the Nagano Olympic Winter Games. Ruby, the winner of six World Cup slalom events earlier this year, made two steady runs down the 936-meter course on the snow-draped Mt. Yakebitai in Shiga Kogen, central Japan, to win with an aggregate time of 2 minutes, 17.34 seconds.
